Nothing has made a stronger impact on the state of pop culture this year than Pokemon Go. It has motivated so many people to move out of their comfort zones and visit many places they would have never gone a month ago. They’re meeting people they didn’t know last month, and forming friendships over a video game many people view as “silly.” Whether or not you’re into it, you cannot deny its place in pop culture history. It has a real chance of influencing many different media and making a mark in places you wouldn’t think possible. Continue to be on the look out because fashion might get a taste of Pokemon Go in the upcoming seasons.
While I was waiting for today’s fashionista to show up to our shoot, I witnessed some interesting things. I was at my old college on a Sunday, so I didn’t think I would see anyone else until she showed up. I was completely and utterly wrong. Every five minutes or so, a different car would show up, circle the parking lot, and leave. This, I later found out, was because there was three Pokestops at the school. Seeing all of this happen and fully understanding what they were doing, I was amazed. I’m here witnessing history in the making. These people may not think much of it, but they’re officially part of a piece of history.
In recent memory, this summer has been one of the hottest. There have been a lot of days where I don’t even leave the house unless I have reason to. If I do, I become a walking lawn sprinkler in a matter of minutes. Because of this, many of us are forced to wear clothing that is either light and breezy or flows effortlessly to give our body some breathing room. This is no different for this fashionista. She perfectly embodies the definition of summer fashion; staying chic and dressing in clothing that is seasonally appropriate.
In 2016, you can’t go wrong with any type of floral print clothing. However, I think they look best on shirts and skirts rather than jeans. I think it’s because most jeans are like second skin these days. This super cute floral crop top is something anyone could wear. The colors are light and easy on the eye, so pairing it with any other color is okay. I really do like that it was paired with black in this instance, though. It stands out and makes a statement. I’m also a big fan of graphic tees, so this shirt is truly something I would wear for an everyday look. “Who cares” is such a “me” statement.
Long flowing skirts are a summer must have. Making sacrifices for fashion is sometimes a necessary evil but more often than not, you want to enjoy yourself while you’re out. Skirts that don’t cling to your body and give you breathing room ensure you’re comfortable and aren’t sweating your life away. This chic black maxi skirt is the definition of a summer fashion staple. The jersey fabric is going to keep you cool and feel nice on your skin, keeping you happy all day long. Any article of clothing that has a slit in it is a favorite of mine. Not only is it uber sexy but it totally makes a statement. We all have skin, so let’s not hide it!
I’m not one to usually praise the color white. It’s absolutely boring and doesn’t make a statement when paired with literally any other color. However, because of the context of this bag (it’s inspired by Artemis from Sailor Moon), I have so much love for the white color; this is white with a reason. This bag is super functional for a night out on the town because it won’t get in your way. If you’re doing a lot of walking around, a heavy and clunky bag is the last thing you want. I also love that this fashionista attached a bunch of key chains to her purse. It makes a statement and shows the world exactly what you’re into and what you’re about.
So, what are you wearing this summer? Are you like me and own hardly any summer pieces? Or are you like this fashionista who owns a lot of clothes that are perfect for summer? Let me know in the comments below!
