My favorite part of being a fashion blogger is meeting so many wonderful, inspiring creatives, and the new friendships made along the way. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve met this past year and a half through my blog who have ended up becoming my good friends. One of those people who quickly become a style inspiration for me is my fabulous friend Macy. If you have been following the blog for a while, you’ll recognize Macy right away. The complete epitome of a rebel, Macy isn’t just a style icon, she’s also the coolest derby girl I know. I’m glad that the blog brought us together and that I can call her a friend.
I tried to do something different with this blog post because, in the past, I felt that you all didn’t really get to know the people I was photographing. These people are more than eclectic and interesting outfits, they’re wonderful people who should have a platform to share their thoughts with the world. I hope that all of my readers, new and old, love this new format. Make sure you let me know how you feel about the new format in the comment section down below.
Q: What does fashion/style mean to you?
A: Fashion to me is the same as acting is to me: you can transform yourself into a different character with what you choose to wear that day. My style jumps around from day-to-day and month-to-month. Right now I’m more into plain & pattern looks, a little more on the professional looking side. Sometimes I go for earth tones and sometimes I go for bold fluorescent colors. And I love that about fashion. You cannot go wrong. You wear what you want and you own it. Fashion to me means versatility.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I definitely have a chameleon closet. It changes with the day. Right now, I own more dresses and crop tops than I ever have in my life! And I am loving it. My style varies but I always come back to the classic black top and patterned pant look. It’s my favorite.
Q: Who is a major style icon for you?
A: Honestly, I don’t keep up with fashion as much as I do with make-up and beauty but I live for anything vintage and vintage inspired. I think my favorite icon these days is my friend, Lynn. She owns a boutique in Gettysburg called Boutique 229 and that girl always slays with her looks!
Q: What time period of fashion do you love most?
A: Hands down, 20’s. That flapper era of glitz and glam and fringe and finger waves. Gah! Those looks are everything. I have a flair for dramatics and I would have loved to be alive in the 40’s.
Q: What’s one fun fact you want everyone to know about you?
Q: I just started working at our local Sephora and before this job, I wasn’t sure if I would like it. And honestly, it’s changed my life. I have never settled on a career path before, always bouncing around. But I think if I were to finally settle on a path, it would be as a make-up artist. I’m loving every second of my job!
Q: What are your social media handles?
A: You can catch me posting annoying photos of me probably in a facemask or boomerangs of my dogs on Instagram at @hellomacyk // catch me doing mostly the same on Snapchat at @drunk_knitting
