Art is such an important part of my life. Whether it’s being used as a coping mechanism of sorts or just a means of making a living, I try and incorporate it into everything I do. While many people only think of the fine arts aspect of art (such as painting and sculpting), there are so many more forms of art that you may not even be aware of. Fashion is one of the biggest art forms that a lot of people don’t give any thought to. You can perfectly express how you’re feeling on any given day by just throwing on an outfit and walking out into the world. We as humans are literally walking art.
When dressing for the day, you should always wear something that you will be comfortable in. If you’re not happy with your look and what you’re wearing, it will show in your face and the way you carry yourself that day. I always advise against dressing in a way that emulates someone else only because you feel that’s how you should look. If you see an outfit and think that it’s totally cool and want to try it out, go ahead! What I’m saying is, always stay true to you and how you feel. Comfort should never be sacrificed for style.
Today’s fashionista has a style that is unique and one that I am totally in love with. The turquoise dress she’s sporting is so cute and super vintage, it reminds me of something you would see in a 1920’s Hollywood flick. The color makes you feel very calm and has a nostalgic quality to it. When I was younger, my favorite color indisputably was blue. I wanted everything I owned to be blue and I actually wanted to be the color blue. These days I’m more partial to the color black, but I still have a soft spot for the color blue. I’m also loving the pleats in this dress. They make it look light and airy and totally add to the shape and volume of the dress. You can’t go wrong with pleats!
I know that my fashion history teacher would be so mad at me for not being able to remember the name of the hat this fashionista is wearing, but that’s okay. In conjunction with the dress, this super cute straw hat gives off a 1920’s vibe. It’s cutesy and classic, making it a versatile piece in anyone’s wardrobe. I think that this could be paired with a lot of the clothing you see gracing the runway these days and enhance the looks, taking them to an entirely different level. Let’s not forget about the color of the ribbon wrapped around this hat and how well it compliments the turquoise color of the dress. This fashionista has an eye for styling and what colors work well with what.
The necklace this fashionista is wearing is so chic and is super special because it’s a one of a kind piece. That’s right, this necklace was made by her! This fashionista had expressed to me that she really loved ceramics and was exploring different art mediums, finding what she loves and what she doesn’t. Handmade jewelry can often be better than those that are store bought and this is one of those cases. The colors are super current and I’m almost positive are the two Pantone colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. After speaking to this fashionista, I recommend that everyone try out ceramics because it can be such a calming experience.
White sneakers are starting to become a bigger trend with each passing day. Many years ago, you would rarely ever find someone leaving their house wearing a pair of white sneakers because black sneakers were all the rage. While I adore the color black, I’m happy that we have come full circle on our opinions of white sneakers. I don’t think Vans gets enough credit when it comes to their shoes. They make shoes that feel amazing while you’re wearing them and last a long time. What’s the point of having shoes that fall apart two months into wearing them?
So, do you have any art mediums that you’re really into? Are you someone who loves to paint or are you more of the writing type? Let me know in the comments below!
