Before I went to college, you couldn’t even pay me to wear color. I, for whatever reason, was afraid of wearing color because I swore I looked strange in it. Maybe it was because in color, you really stood out, and that was something I didn’t really want to do. As soon as I started college, however, something inside me awoke and brought my love for color along with it. Yes, you will definitely still see me rock all black outfits for days at a time. But throwing in pops of color is what can truly enhance an otherwise visually boring outfit.
Faux leather is a textile that I can’t see myself living without. I could be eighty years old, living in a nursing home, and you will still see me strutting around in faux leather pants or a vest. Maybe not an image you wanted to picture, but it was necessary for me to paint that picture. This vest has a few pockets on either side, so if you’re on the go and can’t carry a bag, you’ll having something to put your phone in. Also, as a side note, I originally paired this vest with a different blouse but ended up looking like a member of the village people.
To really contrast the harshness of the faux leather jacket, I threw on one of my favorite pops of color. A few years ago, I didn’t know the term color blocking existed. I obviously knew what it looked like but if you wanted me to give a description, I would have probably said “a blouse with different types of color” as opposed to “a color blocking blouse.” The sheer material is great for the warmer months and I can’t wait to actively wear this garment again.
I really debated what shoes I wanted to wear with this look. Boots felt too typical and boring; you see them all the time on Gutterfashion. To contrast the big looks in this outfit, I decided to keep it simple and wear these cute heeled booties. They’re very sleek and not something I’m use to wearing a lot, but you should always grow in your style. Fashion, to me, is all about growth and expanding your signature look.
So, is wearing color something you enjoy? Do you like to throw on different pops of color? Or are you more of a monochromatic fashionista? Let me know in the comments below!
