It’s time to break out your knitted cardigans and your fuzzy sweaters, folks: fall is here. During this season, you’ll see lots of layering and heavyweight pieces that may have been hidden in the back of some fashionista’s closets. Many of you have fully made the transition from summer attire to fall but there are a few stragglers that are still clutching onto their crop tops. Listen people, it’s time to let summer go! Fall is in full swing and there isn’t any stopping it now.
I’m excited to witness all of the new styles and colors that this fall brings. We have our usual suspects, like the various shades of orange and brown, but you can definitely expect to see plums and wines. They’ve taken over the market these past few months and will most likely see the end of fall before they go away for a while. Style wise, oversized clothing is making a wonderful comeback. You can expect to see people rocking hoodies and baggy sweaters that are two sizes too big. Like predicted in earlier articles, clothing with piercings and velvet textiles are going to also to be filling your home closets. Time to start investing in a couple pieces before the ship sets sail!
Today’s fashionista is another fellow artist. She has amazing sewing skills and makes delightful plush figures. Make sure to check her Instagram (@spookycutes) out! Like myself, she’s a big fan of cool weather and is anti-heat. I saw her grey jacket and thought it was so cool. Not only is it full of pockets, making it super functional, but it’s adorned with an abundance of pins! I’m a big fan of both, so you know this was something I’d love to wear myself. It looks really comfortable as well and is perfect for the cool fall weather.
Underneath the stylish grey jacket is a chic long sleeve velvet top. No gothic look is complete without a velvet garment and you can’t blame this fashionista for rocking one. Whenever I see velvet I think of comfort and style; that’s truly something important to look for in an article of clothing. I was pleasantly surprised when she took off her jacket to reveal that the shoulders were decorated with leather. This look is very on trend!
This fashionista isn’t ready to get rid of her shorts and honestly, neither am I. I’ve really come into my own when it comes to wearing shorter clothing but feel like I haven’t had the full amount of time to rock them. To make these functional until the end of fall, make sure to pair them with leggings or tights. They’ll keep you cool and you’ll look great in them. Wearing a textured pair, like the ones featured, makes sure you’re differentiated from the rest. I thought the belt she wore was a nice touch; you can really tell she has an eye for detail.
Everyone knows that you’re not truly ready for fall unless you’re rocking a pair of black boots. Doc Martens are a staple for any gothic look, and there’s definitely a reason. When you wear these boots, those around you know that you’re not messing around. They have a connotation that the wearer is rough around the edges but still cares about fashion. I think they tied together an already perfect look, and commend this fashionista for knowing exactly what to wear.
So, are there any fall staples that you can’t wait to break out of the closet? Are you going to be wearing any on trend pieces? Or are you sticking with your usuals? Let me know in the comments below!
