Who Says Punk Is Dead?

Who Says Punk Is Dead -- going green and staying punk!| gutterfashion.com

As I stated in a previous article, nature means a lot to me. We need to make sure that we are taking care of this earth as much as possible because we only have one. The easiest way for us to protect mother earth is to go green! This means more than just the simple “make sure you recycle all of your waste.” It’s all about using little electricity during the daytime, lowering the amount of gas you use daily, and wasting less water while taking showers, doing dishes, or even your laundry. Once we all collectively start doing these things, on top of ceasing our destruction of wildlife, maybe mother earth can finally rest easy.

Two Saturday’s ago our city was holding a Go Green in the City event downtown and I was really excited to go. I knew that not only would there be some really cool street vendors selling food and trinkets but that there would also be a lot of people dressed in some really cool outfits. So my significant other and I hightailed it down to the Central Market to see what we could find.

I was truly overwhelmed by all of the really awesome outfits I saw. I honestly wanted to take pictures of everyone, but I knew that wouldn’t be possible. Some people just wouldn’t be comfortable with the idea of someone else taking their picture to post on a blog for the entire world to see. And I was okay with that. Today’s fashionista, however, was totally cool with me taking pictures of her and I’m forever thankful! She had expressed to me that her boyfriend takes a lot of pictures everywhere they go, so she was used to it.

My favorite part about this outfit is definitely the quarter sleeve shirt. I absolutely love the tie-dyed ombré effect and think it adds a cool factor to the shirt. I also think that it really helps bring together the outfit as a whole. The shirt really reminds me of all the times I used to bleach or dip dye my clothes in college, which is actually a lot of fun.

Beanies are something that can really be worn by anyone with pretty much any outfit. Most people wear them because they didn’t feel like doing their hair that day and need something to hide it under. However, I can tell that this wasn’t the case for this fashionista. She definitely knew that it would add to the outfit and make it look that much cooler. And she definitely wasn’t wrong!

I really love the other accessories in this outfit as well. The over the shoulder tote bag this fashionista is carrying is really awesome! It has a distressed paisley print that adds an air of coolness. I also fell head over heels in love with the mushroom earrings she’s wearing. They’re fun and funky and oh so very cool! I think that they work perfectly with this outfit.

We can’t forget about the combat boots! I think that if there’s one thing I want you guys to take away not only from this post but my blog as a whole, is my love for combat boots. I could seriously wear them with every outfit. They’re such a classic in the world of fashion now and I know very little people who don’t own a pair. And while I can’t speak for everyone else, I know that I personally feel a bit more badass when I have a pair on. You want to stomp around the world, telling everyone in your way that doesn’t like it, to go shove it!

  1. Oh man! I got my first pair of docs at 15. Still have a pair (not the same one). So glad to see them come back in fashion. PUNK NEVER DIES
